POSITION  OVERVIEW

The Associate Producer role on the Daily Team will work to support the team in its video production goals, by working with Producers and Senior Producers on specific tasks which form part of the production workflow. It is a bilingual Arabic-English role, which will involve regular translation from Arabic to English. This early career position is ideal for journalists with strong instincts for what makes a story shareable on social media, and an understanding of AJ+ English output. You will also need to have a strong grasp of the AJ+ English audience, and how it is different from the AJ+ Arabic and Al Jazeera English audiences. You'll be looking to learn from Producers and Senior Producers while bringing pitches of your own to the table. As with all our journalists, APs are expected to be on top of news from the Global South, especially stories that cover universal social justice issues. AJ+ is a unique digital news & storytelling project telling stories of human rights & equality, holding power to account, and amplifying voices of the powerless.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Translate Arabic stories into English

Edit videos and carousels that have been written by Producers and Senior Producers

Assist Producers and Senior Producers with research, setting up interviews and other tasks

Be across all AJ+ Arabic and AJA content, and pitch stories for our team or other teams to reversion

Build relationships with other AJ+ teams in Doha, to assist in the cross-language collaboration

Meet daily deadlines

Follow AJ+ editorial guidelines and ethics

Ensure that AJ+ content is consistent with the channel's goals, standards and style

This is a rotating shift-based job that may require set evening and weekend hours

rEQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Fluency in English and Arabic

Experience in video production or online journalism

Strong, fast, accurate video editing skills

A clear understanding of AJ+ editorial identity and the style of our content

Ability to work under tight pressure and deadlines

Ability to work long, flexible hours and adapt to changing priorities

Sound editorial judgment on a range of global issues

Adobe Premiere experience preferred

Education & Experience

Bachelor degree or relevant experience

Minimum of 1 Years' experience in an editorial position
